Hummer H3 Alpha

The H3 Alpha's 5.3L engine is a powerful and efficient member of  GM's legendary small-block V-8 family. It is rated at 295 horsepower (224 kW) and 317 lb.-ft. of torque (438 Nm); and is similar to the small-block V-8 found in the Chevy Silverado, which was named the 2007 Truck of the Year at the North American International Auto Show. "For jobs such as towing personal watercraft up a mountain to the lake, the small-block V-8's torque performs with effortless ease and little impact on fuel mileage," said Christopher Meagher, assistant chief engineer of small-block V-8 truck engines. "The 5.3L engine greatly broadens the H3's towing capability."Effortless highway driving also is an attribute of the 5.3L V-8, which enables 0-60 mph performance of approximately eight seconds.
"All of the powertrain options in the H3 lineup deliver performance suited to different driving styles and needs," said Meagher. "But when it comes to certain tasks such as towing, there is sometimes no substitute for a V-8 engine."

An aluminum cylinder block is used with the H3 Alpha's engine. It helps reduce overall mass and maintains a more desirable front-to-rear weight balance. Like all of GM's small-block V-8 engines, highlights include:
  • Deep-skirt cylinder block with cross-bolted main caps

  • High-flow cylinder heads

  • Electronic throttle control

  • 58X ignition system

  • E67 32-bit controller

  • Polymer-coated pistons with full-floating wrist pins

  • Returnless fuel system

  • Lightweight valvetrain

  • Steel camshaft

  • Low-restriction air intake system

GM's small-block V-8 engines are engineered to meet today's more stringent emissions standards. In fact, the H3 Alpha's V-8 engine beats the deadline for new, U.S. federal emissions standards by a year. And compared to truck engines of a decade ago, the small-block engine family is approximately 90 percent cleaner. Cast iron exhaust manifolds matched with four close-coupled catalytic converters help reduce cold-start emissions, which is the largest source of vehicle emissions.

A Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission is paired with the H3 Alpha's V-8 engine. And, as with all H3 models, flat-towing is enabled.

Hummer H2 SUT

As a vehicle originally designed as a means of fighting, the Hummer is designed very strong and tough in all fields. This is evidenced by the design exterior and interior are handsome and charming. But in the subsequent development of this car which developed into a civilian car anyone could ever have. Very striking changes occurred in this series Hummer H2 SUT. The H2 is the second vehicle sold under the Hummer marque of General Motors. It is a large SUV (though smaller than the Hummer H1) with room for five passengers and substantial off-road ability. The rearmost part of the H2 SUV was modified to a pickup truck bed for the 2004 H2 SUT ("Sport Utility Truck").

Hummer H2 SUT

Overview
The H2 is built under contract by AM General at a specially constructed plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, USA. Although it shares GM's GMT820 truck platform with the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, those vehicles differ in many ways and are constructed in three other GM plants. The H2's final frame assembly is made up of 3 sections: The front uses a modified GM 2500-Series utility frame, the mid-section is all new and is completely boxed,
and the rear section uses a modifed GM 1500-Series frame which is upgraded for the 8000 pound (3629 kg) gross vehicle weight.
H2 sales were initially strong, but fell to 28,898 for 2004 and 23,213 for 2005.
The H2 was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2003.

Engine
2003–2005 6000 6.0 L (366 in³) V8

Capabilities
With its high ground clearance, large tires, protective underbody plates, and low gearing, the H2 is capable of climbing over a 20-inch-high (0.4 m) step-up wall. A massive truck frame and wide track offer stability against overturning compared to some of the more common light truck SUVs, although objective tests have not been performed by the government or other outside parties due to its specialised vehicle class.

Fuel Economy
For typical travel on improved roads, users report fuel economy of between 10 and 14 miles per gallon, which converts to between 14 and 17 L/100 km. Worst case urban driving is said to be in the range of 8 to 14 U.S. mpg (21 to 25 L/100 km). Although General Motors does not provide official H2 fuel economy ratings, most reviews have observed high single to low double-digit mileage, similar to the numbers above.

Hummer H2 213 Ultimate Six

As a manufacturer of cars with special specifications, the Hummer has always innovate by creating cars that can be used by all people, not just the military. Hummer adjust consumer demand stemming from the civilian. Then created variations of a car that suits their background respectively. Among these are the Hummer H2 213 Ultimate Six. There is actually a pretty easy way of figuring out the internal volume of a box, without using and tape measures. Our weapon of choice in this, will be packing peanuts. The kind you see in packages sent to your house. Those little pieces of foam that help keep the contents of packages from breaking or being damaged in transit. You will want to get a couple bags of these little guys. Enough to fill the enclosure you plan to measure.

Now you want to get a cardboard box or make a small wooden box that has an internal volume of 6 cubic inches. That would be 6″h X 6″w X 6″d. Those are the internal measurements, not counting the walls of the box. That way if you could freeze the air inside the box and take it out, you would have a 6x6x6 inch cube of frozen air.

Once you have your measuring box, start to remove the peanuts from the fiberglass box, and place them in the measuring box. Fill it to the top. Write down or mark somewhere how many times it takes to fill the measuring box. Say it takes 5 times, then your box’s airspace is 2 and ½ cu. ft. Every time you fill it, that represents 6 square inches of airspace.

Although the maximum seating capacity is eight, the Hummer H3 still has all the mod-cons of the H2 model. With the exclusive luminescent finish that gives the interior that extra sparkle and exudes luxury, two impressive bars and hidden TV screens, this model is without a doubt one of the flashiest.

The H3 offers optimum luxury with its lavish additions, including champagne holders, decanters and glasses for those who like a tipple of the good stuff, a beautifully decorated interior including extravagant lighting (fiber optics and LEDs) to exude that intimate mood and comfortable but plush leather seats; mini-bars, starlight ceiling and vanity mirrors as part of the décor.

Hummer H3

The Hummer H3 was a crossover SUV/Sport Utility Truck from General Motors' Hummer division introduced in 2005 based on the GMT355 underpinning the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon compact pickup trucks. Produced at GM's Shreveport, Louisiana factory and the Port Elizabeth plant in South Africa the H3 was the smallest of the Hummer models, and the first to be built by GM. It was available either as a traditional midsize SUV or as a midsize pickup known as the H3T.

In 2007 GM South Africa launched their first Hummer production facility in Port Elizabeth, this move introduced the Hummer brand to the South African market and also somewhat lightened the load of the Shreveport factory in Louisiana. Most of the South African made Hummer H3's were imported to England because of the right hand drive factor. The plant manufactured only the Hummer H3, and builds for the South African market as well as the markets of Asia and Europe. This plant also manufactured a right hand drive version for the Australian market between 2007 and 2009. Throughout Australia, Hummer was distributed by GM Holden dealerships.

Hummer H3
Powertrains
The H3 was launched with a 3.5 liter straight-5 cylinder L52 engine that produced 220 hp (160 kW) and 225 ft·lbf (305 N·m) of torque and was mated to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional Hydra-Matic 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission. In 2007 this engine was replaced by 3.7 liter LLR that produced 242 hp (180 kW) and 242 ft·lbf (328 N·m) of torque, figures that were revised in 2009 to 239 hp (178 kW) and 241 ft·lbf (327 N·m).
Hummer H3
Under revised EPA testing standards when equipped with either transmission this straight-5 engine achieves 14 mpg-US (17 l/100 km) in the city and 18 mpg-US (13 l/100 km) on the highway with a combined average of 15 mpg-US (16 l/100 km). Available solely with the automatic transmission, a 5.3 liter LH8 V8 producing 300 hp (220 kW) and 320 ft·lbf (430 N·m) of torque was added in 2008 for the Alpha model of the H3 and returns slightly lower fuel economy estimated at 13 mpg-US (18 l/100 km) in the city, 16 mpg-US (15 l/100 km) on the highway, with a combined average of 14 mpg-US (17 l/100 km).

Hummer H3
The H3 and H3T are being discontinued after the 2010 model year as GM is winding down the entire Hummer brand. Their cousins, the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, are reportedly being redesigned for the 2012 model year.

Plug-in Hybrid
An April 2009 Engadget column reported that Raser Technologies and FEV had built a prototype plug-in hybrid H3 that could achieve 100 MPG given enough mains power. This vehicle, known later as the Electric Hummer H3, was then showcased by California State Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at a press conference at the State Capitol in Sacramento as part of a campaign to promote greener vehicles.
Hummer H3

Capabilities
The H3 features a two-speed, electronically controlled full-time four-wheel drive system that is suitable for both on-road and off-road driving in all conditions, with electronic locking front and rear differentials optionally available. Like its larger sibling the Hummer H2, the H3 can ford 24 inches (610 mm) of water (tested in depths up to 31 in/790 mm) at a speed of 5 miles per hour (8.0 km/h) and 16 inches (410 mm) of water at a speed of 20 miles per hour (32 km/h). Standard ground clearance is measured at 9.7 inches (250 mm) while the approach, departure, and breakover angles are measured at 37.4°, 34.7°, and 22.1° respectively, allowing the H3 to scale a 16-inch (410 mm) vertical wall and negotiate grades of 60% and side slopes of 40%. Though fore and aft recovery hooks are standard, a trailer hitch and wiring harness are optional.

Maximum towing capacities are 3,000 pounds (1,400 kg) for the straight-5 with manual transmission, 4,500 pounds (2,000 kg) for the straight-5 with automatic transmission, and 6,000 pounds (2,700 kg) for the V8 with automatic transmission. Cargo volume with the second-row seats in the upright position is 25.0 cubic feet (0.71 m3), which expands to a maximum of 62.8 cubic feet (1.78 m3) when the seats are folded down. V8 models feature the lightest maximum payload capacity of just over 1,100 pounds (500 kg) while straight-5, manual transmission models allow the greatest payload at 1,300 pounds (590 kg).

Safety
Electronic stability control, anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, brake-controlled traction control, LATCH child-seat anchors, and tire-pressure monitoring are all standard features on the H3. Side-curtain airbags were optional until 2008 when they were made standard across. The H3 is rated Acceptable, the second highest rating, by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in both frontal offset and side-impact crashes (with side airbags) and Poor, the lowest rating, for rear-crash protection/head restraints.

Hummer H2

The Hummer H2 is a massive SUV, which comes with exceptional off-road handling capabilities and amazing facilities. The regular H2 models have been marketed with five to six-passenger carrying capacity, while the custom built commercial Hummer H2 limos can carry up to a dozen of passengers effortlessly.
The regular H2 comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, Bose audio system, leather upholstery, full power front seats with a lumbar adjustment, heated seats, keyless entry, underbody skid plates, OnStar mechanism, locking rear differential and the powerful 315/70R17 all-terrain tires. However, the commercial Hummer limos are even equipped with mini-bars, dance floors, disco lights, Plasma TVs, home theatre systems and everything that you may dream of. Consequently, they're extremely popular for rentals to have fun of a lifetime.
But, the biggest downside to the H2 vehicles is their horrendous gas mileage, which comes to about 9.2 mpg overall. Far worse, you can't take it anywhere you want, and parking within city garages can be a big issue.
Optionally, one can also find additional goodies like third-row seat (to improve the passenger carrying capacity to 6), tubular side steps, brushed-aluminum roof rack, satellite radio etc. with the performance packages like the Adventure Series.

Under the hood, this gigantic vehicle derives 325 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque from the 6.0-liter V8 engine, and when you look at its gear selector you get a feeling as though it were lifted from fighter plane.
You get excellent ground clearance, aggressive tires, and plenty of grip, though the weight of the vehicle rounds of the power delivered by the V6; above all you got to shell out over $60,000, and hell a lot of money on gas refill every single time. So, 2010 probably Hummer H2 is an ideal pick for celebrities and stinking rich folks, not for the common man.

Hummer H1

The Hummer H1 is a civilian off-road vehicle based on the M998 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (or Humvee), which was created by AM General. The vehicle was produced from 1992 through 2006, and was the first of what became the Hummer line. It was initially known only as the "Hummer"; however, in 1999 in a joint venture between General Motors and AM General, GM began marketing the Hummer H2, which was built on the Chevrolet Tahoe chassis. It was at this point that the original Hummer was given the H1 designation. For collectors, the most desirable model is the H1 Alpha, produced in the final model year of 2006. It had the most powerful engine and the best fuel mileage of the H1 vehicles. Overall, the H1 was a very limited production vehicle.
Hummer H1
Originally designed strictly for military use, this absolutely massive four-wheel-drive utility vehicle earned its 15 minutes of fame as a civilian conveyance when it became the ride of choice among Hollywood celebrities and professional athletes. Boasting 16 inches (40 cm) of ground clearance as well as super-aggressive approach and departure angles, the Humvee could clamber over a 22-inch (56 cm) high obstacle, handle a 60 percent grade and wade through up to 30 inches (76 cm) of water.
